Kitty Blue
The heart-warming story of an Aboriginal artist born under the stars in the Australian outback, and a young woman set for fame.
Murrandoo Martin is an artist who lives as a hermit in various outback locations in central Australia. He is the last of a "lost tribe", a small indigenous group of people removed from their remote home in the mystical desert landscape of the fictional Currup Ranges. Murrandoo decides to return to 'the Currup' and dedicate his life to painting what he suspects will be his final masterpiece. But high-profile lawyer Adam Clancy has arrived in the nearby town of Lisborne (driving a Ferrari) to search for Murrandoo. Adam Clancy has always been intrigued by Murrandoo's long-ago visit to Clancy's former legal firm and Murrandoo's claims of stolen artwork. If Murrandoo was telling the truth, it could be the biggest case of his life, or simply a summer misspent.
Weaving her way into the lives of both these men is 'Kitty Blue', the stage name of Catherine 'Kitty' Bennet, a passionate but broke 26-year-old singer who lives in the Lisborne, a town near the Currup, and who has just been sacked as the lead singer of her band. Kitty moves back home to live with her mother and two sisters, her dreams in shatters. She takes a job with Adam Clancy to assist in the search for Murrandoo Martin, whose life is about to collide with hers in ways she does not yet understand.
